Colonial Williamsburg
History your kids will actually remember.
Why families love it
It's three trips in one. In the Historic Area, kids talk to blacksmiths and soldiers instead of reading plaques. Busch Gardens Williamsburg is 10 minutes away, and Virginia Beach makes an easy day trip. School trip and beach vacation in one.

Tell me about your family and I'll build this trip around them.

Colonial Williamsburg
History your kids will actually remember.
Best for ages
About 6 and up. Under 6 enjoy the animals and the fife-and-drum corps, but the history lands at reading age. Teens who 'hate history' change their minds by day two.
When to go
April, May, September, and October bring the best weather and full programs. Summer is hot and humid but everything is open. Christmas brings the Grand Illumination and a decorated Historic Area.
Brandon's tips
Buy the multi-day ticket. One day isn't enough, and it pays for itself on day two.
Do the Capitol or Governor's Palace at opening. The popular tours fill by mid-morning.
Hit Busch Gardens on a weekday.
Stay in a Williamsburg inn or B&B instead of a chain hotel.
